D.A.R.E. Keepin' it REAL

D.A.R.E. Timmins was established in 1994. The program is an ever evolving, evidence-based educational tool that helps youth understand the importance of good decision making skills so that they can live safe and healthy lives. D.A.R.E. Timmins currently educates over 600 local students each year in both French and English languages.

D.A.R.E. Board of Directors

The TIMMINS D.A.R.E. Board of Directors is a group of volunteers who are committed to supporting this program that assists with high level decision making skills. The board of directors is a civilian committee responsible to fund raise and manage the Timmins Police Services' D.A.R.E. program.

June Tessier - Chair

June Tessier was voted in as the Chair for the DARE board in November 2015.  She has a passion for educating our youth about the dangers of drugs in our community.  June is a mother of two and grandmother of three. She successfully graduated from the Northern College Business Administration Marketing and Account three year program where she was appointed to the Deans list Honor Role. She is a full time grandmother who enjoys spending her time outdoors hiking, biking, fishing and enjoying every moment with her grandsons. 

 

 

 

NICOLE GINGRAS - VICE-CHAIR

Nicole Gingras is a Business Marketing graduate with a 14 year tenure in this field at Northern College’s Timmins Campus.  She is a dedicated individual, full-time mom which she claims is her best job with a great deal of creativity, energy and passion for children and her community. She is known as a true northern girl. She loves the outdoors, camping, hunting and travelling.  Nicole was happy to join the DARE board in the Spring  of 2016 to help support this amazing program, its initiatives as her contribution to helping make her community a safe one to raise children

FRANCINE DENIS - TREASURER

Francine Denis is a Business graduate from Northern College as well an Early Childhood Education graduate from Cambrian College.  She has been employed by the Timmins Public Library for the past 17 years. During her time with the Library, she has worked with children of all ages and has been a consistent advocate for literacy. She feels that the ability to read and write guides children in making good life choices and has been a strong promoter of literacy throughout our community. Francine has been interested in becoming part of the D.A.R.E organization for some time now, believing strongly in the program and the benefits it offers to the youth of today. 

Francine is married and has 2 beautiful little boys.

 

 

Sarah stewart- secretary

“Sarah joined the DARE Timmins Board of Directors in April 2016. Sarah is a lawyer practicing with Gosselin Law Firm Professional Corporation.   Sarah is a native of Timmins, Ontario and returned to begin her practice work after completing law school in New Brunswick. Sarah is a DARE program graduate having participated in the grade 6 program with Cst. Bob Boisvert in 2002.”

 

 

 

 

Nathalie Rice 

Nathalie Rice joined the DARE Timmins Board of Directors in 2005.  Nathalie is a Chartered Professional Accountant who is currently working as Regional Finance Manager with Reflex Instrument North America Limited.  She is a mother of 4 and grandmother of 2.  She enjoys reading, cross country skiing, hiking and spending time with her family.

 

Hector Ciccone

Hector Ciccone has been involved with helping local students for most of his 32 year career as a teacher and principal. As an educator, he has taken the DARE program several times with his students and truly believes in its success. He has served on many committees and is currently an Executive Member of KidSport Timmins.  One of his goals is to help keep Timmins the place to raise your child.  Hector is happily married with two children, two grandchildren and two Volkswagens.
